Hi guys, I just picked up a pair of Sennheiser PC 350 SE's. I'm still waiting on my Firefly DAC but already I'm loving the sound over my previous earbuds.

My question is, the microphone is really quiet and tinny on recording. I've heard other people's recording that were bright and clear.

  1. Is there something in standard Windows setting I have off to get best sound?
  2. Will the DAC push more power to the mic and that's what I'm missing?
  3. Are my headphones defective?

Example. I am the audio that syncs with the talking man's mouth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JG7qUU1ZBY

Ok, So I got my firefly in the mail today, and while the sound is MUCH MUCH better in the headphones... the mic still sounds really bad. My theory that getting a DAC/Amp would help drive the Mic too is incorrect. Anyone have any ideas?

Okay. Dur. Ignore me. Somehow the noise cancelling option in my windows audio settings was enabled. Pro-tip. Don't use any extra settings without testing what they do to your quality. Sheesh.
