I have been reading throughout the reviews and different opinions on the PX 200's and PX 100's and i still cant decide. So i thought i should post my own thread and see what you guys think.

To start with, the majority of teh time i listen to dark/electronica ambient and classical music. So im not sure if i need that much bass or not. I hear, that there is some problems with the fit for teh PX 200's, i dont think i can try them on at teh shop so will i have a problem here.... or is it just a matter of fiddling around with them for a bit to find a perfect fit? I have a small head, if that is any compensation.

Also, can you tell me the differences in sound, which has more bass (high to low) and treble and such.

Thanks in advance, all advice appreciated.

Lets be clear. I own PX100 but have not heard the PX200.

My opinion. If you don't need isolation go with the PX100. If you do, maybe a CX300 would be the best choice. Avoid the PX200 unless you can triy one and find you like it.

I own the PX100s and my friend has the PX200s.

For me, the PX100 sounds more natural and clearer whereas the PX200 needs a good seal to get a decent sound, and even then I find them flat and dull.

I have both. PX200 are decent cans, but sound muffled and compressed and definately have less bass than PX100. Isolation is the key word here. If you don't need it, then the PX100 are throughout the better choice.

I also have both and would say that the 100's easily outperform the 200's which sound dull in comparison. However the 200's handle noisy environments better and outside noise, which obliterate the sound produced by the 100s, lets the closed design of the 200 shine. I always use the 200's in the gym and can still hear my music over the piped pop whereas the 100's let too much sound in and there is the worry that i might be annoying others. The 200s are more comfortable as well. I would have to advise getting both that way all bases are covered (so no real help sorry).

I had the 200s and was so dissatisfied I sold them after a long burn-in failed to change them significantly. I now have the 100s, and the difference between the two is like night and day. As other have said, the 100s have better clarity and high end, and decent bass and soundstage. I found the 200s muddy, dull, and cheap sounding, like the pack-ins that come with most Sony products.

It's true that the 200s do a really great job of isolating, but to me there was no benefit because they sounded so bad. So what if they isolate amazingly but sound terrible? Again, these are my subjective impressions. Others might find sound quality acceptible and therefore a good tradeoff if isolation is important.

Also, the 100s don't do a horrendous job in the isolation department. You can't expect them to isolate like a closed can, but they leak far less than SR60s, KSC 75s/55s/35s and other popular headphones. My own solution was to buy the Senn CX300s for isolation, and use the 100s other times.

Good luck with your decision.

I just got a pair of PX100s yesterday, and I haven't had long critical listening sessions, but I can tell you that I was really enjoying having clear sound in my portable rig, and not those damn hissy popping iBuds!

I haven't heard the PX200 but I like the way my PX100 sound. My problem is that I don't really like open headphones for portable use so I tend to use IEM's more often than the PX100's.
