Has anybody else found their collections? They're amazing! Also, they donate a portion of the profits to a corresponding charity. For example, I bought the Brazilian Lounge CD the other day and they're donating 10% to a Brazilian charity called Rukha. The only fault I can find with them, is they're not yet available on iTunes or other online music stores, so you have to find a store that carries them, or order their CD's online. You should check them out if you're like very diverse music, like me.

I've run into a couple of Putumayo collections at used CD stores. I like them. Now that all the used-CD places near me have closed I should look around on-line. Putumayo puts together interesting collections.

Putumayo have indeed done great services to world music, and their artworks are lovely. Their collections leans towards more famous artists in the genre and so are good introductions to a particular style or geographical region. However, for those who are more steeped into a genre but are eager for discovering new talents, the Rough Guides are more interesting.

2x, although to be fair, Putumayo's compilations have gotten quite a bit less obvious in recent years.
