When you combine a cranky villain and a hero who would rather play Homer Simpson...you get a movie like Pursued...

But wait...that is not criticism...!!

It is not too often that we get to see a hero getting his ass kicked...a hero running scared...a hero who is as attractive as stephen baldwin with glass eyes...a hero who would NOT be with the female lead were it not for the fact that they were already married...a hero who is a geek...

Now - the villain on the other hand - Christian Slater plays the role of a baddie. I havent seen too many movies where he plays the bad guy which is probably why his career was on a downward spiral...this guy is BAD-ASS!!! He should be in more roles like this...it was un-real!!

When you watch the movie you REALLY start to hate this guy...Vincent Palmer...played by Slater. You HATE his unctuous style and that voice just gets you going Aargh!!!

If a villain can generate so much hate from a rather mellifluous viewer like me then the casting works!! You want to pinch his eyes out...you cringe whenever you see his face or hear his laugh...

Another thing done well is the way the director builds up the tension...phones ringing, pagers beeping...it REALLY creates the impression that this Palmer guy is stalking his prey relentlessly...that there is ONLY one thing on his mind...to get his man to sign.

The Plot?? Very simple...

Vincent Palmer is a head-hunter and he is the best you can find. He is employed by a Tech firm - Resday - which is going through some rough times and the investors are fidgeting.

Instead of killing the investors one by one

Palmer is hired by Resdat to hunt down and coerce the best in the business to sign on the Resdat Payroll...by whatever means necessary. This apparently increases the value of resdat shares and Palmer walks away with a million bucks for every succesful signature.

Now he is persistent...to the point of exceeding the limits of sanity and he HOUNDS the target into submission...so far it has been a smooth ride.

Until he meets our male lead - Ben <insert last name>

This guy is a Duh! character. They should have cast someone a little more "talented" ... someone a little older and more out of shape...not a big bucks star...someone like Richard Dreyfuss?? or even a Black male like Danny Glover??

Why? Because it is easier to sympathize with someone who is greying than someone like Gil Bellows

Well...the Ben uses his pet "project" to beat vincent in the end but they could have made Oh! So much more out of it...they just dropped it like a hot potato...

The female lead - Estella Warren put in a solid performance...hard to fault...

It is not a bad movie...I dont know why they needed to have Michael Clark Duncan playing a rather lame role...

Watch the movie...its not too bad and is worth the time spent on it. Forget about the special features - nonsense
