To what digital & analog sources can you compare it?

It is warmer and more dynamic than my Sony SACD player. My Philips cd burner (which I am using as a source for the Link Dac) has about the ame warmth, and deep bass, but the Philips bass is not nearly as tight as the Link Dac, nor is as detailed as the Link Dac. Compared to my Linn LP12, through a Musical Fidelity Phono stage, I would say that the Link Dac compares favoribly to it. By far the closest to analog I have heard from any digital that I have owned. The next best dac is my Adcom GDP 600, which is fairly close in bass and dynamics, but the timber is still digitall sounding. The LP12 is still better than the Link DAC as a whole, but at least the Link Dac is getting some what close to it.
My Oracle Delphi/Ittock is a little leaner sounding but more detailed, and still retains great dynamics.
All the analog has many more variables by far. One can use different cartridges, phono stages, matts, etc. And of course there are more settings to dial in.
So, in a nut shell, the PS Audio Link Dac III is close but not quite analog, with excellent detail retrieval, sound staging is very wide, and the depth and seperation is the best I have heard from digital, with only sacd being a tad better in some areas. The Link Dac is the best I have heard my redbook cd's, that in it's self it is a bargain.
