I have a pre2013 Astro Mixamp.  I am getting a PS4 soon, and I've read there will be issues.  Basically because  pre2013 Mixamp's firmware cannot be updated to fix issues.

What are the issues?

Is it possible to still use it, but forgo the MIC basically?  Just use it for sound whoring.  I just wanted to understand the issues and limitations.  Also any suggestions besides buying a new mixamp.

Thanks!

I am selling my Mixamp and would like to know this too. As to advertise it working with the PS4 or not.

But to mildly answer the OP's question, i've read there can be poor balancing with voice and game sound with older models. Mixamps are pretty crappy sound quality anyway.

If no Mic, issues will be minimal, as it's just working as a surround decoder. Alternatives for decoders are (that i know of):

Turtle Beach DSS
AV Receiver with Dolby Headphone or Silent Cinema
Sound Blaster E5 or X7, and some other models.
