That's an excellent price indeed considering the last PS-1 ending at 3030$US. Again it's supply and demand... I think people were thinking they would end at more than 3030$US so they didn't bother bidding.

But I would even buy them at that price. I may like rare Grado stuff, but I just can't find a way to justify this.

but you think the HP1000s are worth their price at $1400-$1600. it seems to me if you're willing to spend that amount, a $2300 headphone is not that much of a stretch.

HP1000 and PS-1 are worth what people are willing to pay. As for sound/price, I would take the HP1000 over the PS-1 anyday, but I prefer the PS-1. We're talking about a 600-700$US stretch (should we call that a stretch!?). HP1000 are far more worth 1400-1600$US than other headphones at the same price as for build quality, sound and components. Sincerly, I don't think I would pay 1400-1600$US for HP1000 for my main headphones, because they are not my favorite (question of taste, they sound very good, but not my taste), but I still like to listen to them. I've pay that price to try out some HP1, get a perfect pair of HP2 and all my HP1000 are for modding.

I consider the PS-1's to be one of the best headphones I've ever heard in my life. That would be the price you pay for the best at this point since they are no longer made. Same deal with the HP-1000's.

Nice to know that I have some appreciating assets! They sound good too. I have both the PS-1 and HP-2. Will sell them as a pair for $25,000, maybe...
