Well i took the plunge and got the DT770-80s from guitar center today! I put them on, plugged them in at the store and the bass blew me away. I was lost in a playlist on my mp3 player for 40 mins before i decided to go start negotiating prices.

Now heres the the interesting part, i tell them i want to negotiate and the sales manager was right by the pro audio rep at the counter and he jumped in saying the price on the beyers was set, that they couldnt drop it any. not even he could change the price supposedly. he asks the guy ringing it up the price and he says its 199. I say oh ok thanks i found it for less online and turn around to walk out the door. Of course he stops me asking what i found it at. I tell him 160 shipped. He then says oh well we have a group of people in california dedicated to checking the online prices to make sure we have the lowest around. Then he talks to the guy at the register again saying "Isnt the advertised price of that 149.99? I think it is right? Would you take it for that price?"

So then after this silly salesmanship i say hell yes cause they sound great and i go home and right now i have big silver comfy pads pressed against my head, and am living happily ever after. Well not quite. Ive decided i need to re rip my collection to lossless and get a new soundcard and my cmoy just doesnt cut it any more.

Not bright at all man! Thats why I love em. lol I kinda liked the sound of my shure e2c's rolled off highs and these sound even better to me, just bright enough to be there, dont lose anything, and they sound smooth with no fatigue.

The 80 ohm version is not a bright phone either, nor is it laid back. I call it just right.

!!! You're from Houston too?!

I just called them up today to let them know I'll be coming by this weekend to check out some headphones. I would sell a kidney to get those Beyers for $150.

We need to talk.
