Up till last night, I was confident that I was going to construct an M3 for my headphones. However, I stumbled upon Dr. Meier's post in the Members of the Trade forum regarding some HA-1 MKII boards. Seeing the limited quantities, I ordered one. Now, I am stuck. Both amps have been getting good reviews. Since I am getting the HA-1 board, I will build it eventually, whether or not I build the M3. I need to decide which one to build first. Which one would be a better match for the K340's?

Having never heard the HA1, I can't compare it with the M3. However, I can attest to the excellent synergy between the M3 and the K340........truly an excellent pairing.

Thanks for the tip. I was also thinking that the M3 would probably be better, seeing as how the MOSFET outputs can put out more power than the BUF634's on the HA-1 MKII and the K340's are definitely power hungry.

My M3 drives my K340 better than my pimeta (stacked buffer 634) does. it seems to have a better synergy/control throughout the frequency range, esp in the bass and lower treble where i often have trouble with K340. I'm not sure how HA-1 would compare though.

Oh god... I haven't heard the M3, but I can tell you to definately build it. The HA1 can NOT drive the K340 well. It is just about the worst pairing I have heard.

I'm loving the dynahi with the k340

Though I would imagine the m3 being more than sufficient for these current hungry headphones.

Wow, how I would love a Dynahi, I have got to hear those one day and see what all the hype is about. Maybe after I finish the M3 and the HA-1, I will start thinking about that...

(like jbloudg, finally I too get to use the K340 smiley!)

You can hear my M3 before you build it so you can judge for yourself the M3/K340 combo. That is, if we ever have an Atlanta meet LOL

I got to listen to teeriwit's M3 with my k340. It sounded quite exquisite i might add and definately has the juice to do it

Hmm, interesting. Where may I find out more about this amp? Is this the same as the Morgan Jones amp on Headwize?

I believe so. My Morgan Jones isn't officially finished, I still have to set the bias resistors, but so far I have not been impressed with the MJ/K340 combo.
