WOW! they sound very similar but they are no where near the same. The KSC75 are chrome or foil type diaphrams. They sound VERY close but are not the same driver.

interesting - do you think the "ventilated" holes in the KSC-35 drivers could be helping them out any? it reminds me of looking at those huge aftermarket car brakes.

hmm i mean the round little holes all over the actual driver. the casing could very well be more open, but the 75's drivers just look grooved, without any holes punched into it.

The diaphram is clear on the 35s so you see the holes threw the diaphram. The 75s are more doamed in the back but i think they are more open then the 35s. Since the diaphram is chrome or metal you cant really see whats going on under it.

Can you share any impressions on them regarding fit?

The fit is alot better on the 75s and ive already bent the bars so they fit really nice. Its almost impossible to shape the 35s. Ive bent the tips of the bars on the 35 so they slip on quicker. It kinda flares out a little on the tip making it quicker to slip on but the fit is tighter on the top near the center, a little painful.

i knew you would like it.

I remember some other post some one said they was told by a koss employee or somthing that the drivers were the same. The dont look the same to me. The different diaphram is visably different and im sure that affects the sound.

It was my impression that the KSC-75 used the same magnets as the KSC-35, but different drivers. I think the evidence suggests that the KSC-50/55/SportaPro are the ones that use the cheaper magnets.

(BTW, I'm waiting for MacDEF to post in this thread still claiming that KSC-75 and KSC-35 drivers are the same

So what is the titanium used for? what other cans does koss have out that use this chrome diaphram driver? It dont sound to bad IMO. I wonder if there are some full size closed cans with this same driver? The UR40 maybe?

I would guess that the titanium is used to improve the driver's rigidity and "improve" the high frequency response. Titanium has one disadvantage, though. It isn't as well damped as cellulose and thus inevitably has nastier breakup modes and a high-frequency resonant peak. I'm not sure if this would affect headphones or not. I personally dislike speakers with metal-dome or metal-cone drivers, but this may not apply to headphones. I haven't heard the KSC-75 yet. If they sound good, the actual technology and specs don't really matter.
