my ipod wont turn off...it stays on with the hard drive spinning at full speed for minutes at a time...this happens daily. is something wrong? i already talked to the local apple store and they said it's normal. i don't agree.

No, even with the latest firmware, it has NOT been fixed. This is exceptionally stupid, because Rockbox 100% turns off within seconds, and they aren't even on a official stable release yet!

From now on, I'll only buy an iPod if Rockbox supports it.

Mine occasionally does that...

Try putting the unit on pause first, then try putting it to sleep - that seems to work for me (if playing, it acts as if no button has been pressed)

Also, that might've been cured in firmware release 1.1.1?!

The only URL you need...

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

If your iPod is locking up every day, odds are you've got it set to manually add songs and you're not ejecting it before disconnecting it. That can make the iPod act wonky.

See ya
