I just saw somewhere where people were complaining that these headphones go out on one side after a few months. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light. As someone who just purchased these, it makes me a little concerned to hear about that. Any ideas what the cause and preventions and maybe even common fix would be?

I don't know if it's really a common issue or not.

I bought my DT770 used and broken, yokes manhandled and one driver blown. I paid $40 shipped, so it worked out pretty well. replacement driver cost $47 shipped. Yokes were easy to re-form. $87 for a used DT770 aint bad at all.

It's not the only blown DT770 driver I've heard of, but i wouldn't say that it happens a lot. perhaps more often than some beyers, but still pretty uncommon.

Well I question it because I just read a forum where 3 people just said they've had the same problem (within the passed couple hours). It's hard for me to not trust the opinions of a headphoneus supremus headfier though...

Well, maybe you'll get some more replies.

if it failed in the first few months, it's probably under warranty, right?

my dt770 was pretty well abused physically, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was abused electrically as well.

I used my dt770s from August last year until around March of this year. The only problem I had was this buzzing that wouldn't go away when certain bass notes hit(and at loud volumes). I guess that happened from dropping the cans on the floor too much(

), because I saw a dent on the driver, and I'm guessing the drops to the floor caused it. But otherwise, I never experienced any of the drivers going out.

Good luck=p

That should be fixable. The dome you see in the center of the earcup is just the grille.

You have to pop the baffle out, break off some glue holding the driver in, unclip the driver, and then you can punch the dome back out from the inside.
