I've gone through three pairs of KSC75 headphones in the past year. It is always the same: within two months one of the drivers stops working and a month-or-so later the other driver stops working. I use them only with my laptop and treat them with care (especially this last pair). I've tried resoldering the wire connections to the drivers (first making sure to burn off the wire coating), but that doesn't seem to help. I'm thinking the problem must be a short in the plug. The KSC75 headphones have good sound quality for the price, but must have a design flaw since they never last longer than a few months.

I've seen how some people have rewired their KSC75 drivers, and I might give it a try, but in lieu of this, what would be a good replacement set of headphones (over-ear style, including full-size headphones), for under 100USD?

According to the Koss website, the KSC75 headphones are covered by a lifetime warranty, but I have to pay to ship the headphones to Koss and include 9USD for return shipping (not to mention waiting who-knows-how-long for the headphones to be repaired/replaced by Koss). So, if the headphones failed every couple of years, I wouldn't mind sending them to Koss for repair/replacement, but I refuse to do it every few months.

Sennheiser HD280Pro? Not the greatest headphone ever made, but for $99 they're sturdy, easy to drive, have good isolation and decent comfort. They can get a bit hot in the summer. Relatively flat response curve. But they have a reputation for being hard to kill.
