i love my grados and wouldnt trade them for the world but i guess i have a smaller sized head than i originally thought lol. i was told that if the sound changes when you lightly press the drivers to your head there not on that good. well i purchased a snap on beyer band to tighten it up, but the drivers are still not that tight to me ears. the pads move around quite a bit. im using the stock comfies it came with.

Any suggestions to get a tighter fit?

Well, I have the same problem with my Shure SRH840s.. a bit loose on my head.. i am not a good DIYer so the easiest solution for me was to put on one of my wife's nike sports headband around the headphone, just above the cups.. this way it sits tight on my head.. it looks weird..lol but i don't mind as i use it only at home..

I will say this: Comfies sound terrible. So terrible that even my ridiculous idea was an improvement.

Go out and buy a car sponge. Cut it up so that it looks vaguely like the bowls (i.e. goes on your ears, fits on the cups, and has a large hole in the middle so there's no more stuff muffling your music). Presto, you have new ugly pads (which I would strongly suggest against wearing in public).

Or you could just buy bowls and (so I hear) make your SR60s sound like SR80s.

+1 Death to comfies.

Anyway, about the comfort. Grados have a metal headband. If you find there is not enough grip on your head simply bend the metal a little.

First, the comfies are very small, even for Grados. They are the pads most likely to make you feel that extra space. Buying larger pads (the $20 L-Cush doughnuts) will reduce that space. They'll also eliminate the cloth covering up your drivers. The SR-80 used to come with the L-Cush pads but when Grado upgraded his product line, the SR-80i got stocked with comfies.

Second, on Grado's, the earcups are held to the ear using a wire headband that is adjustable. You have to use some care as bending can leave you making endless adjustments. Still, Grados tend to arrive pretty tight, even to the point that people complain about the vice grip of that headband. I've found that you can easily just bend out to loosen things up or band in to tighten things up. Grado lovers are used to doing things like this. One of the great contradictions of the tribe is the incredible faith of the Grado faithful combined with the willingness to do what it takes to make them work. It's like lifestyle products meet DIY. When was the last time you saw somebody tweak a Bose?

Comfies are nasty. The bowls on my MS1 makes it sound much better. Less congested, if you will.

And get a J$ headband (V2) for those SR255's. They're $20 at Head-Direct.

its a reasonably malleable piece of metal, not brittle plastic - bend it as much as you want, it wont snap
