"inviting" is what is inspiring to me, i.e. that shows promise to me.

What does the interior have to do with it?

Not much, indeed, but that's just me.

Btw, you'd want to just do a search for more information.

Quite a lot considering it's the "engine" and that doesn't look like much of an engine. Lovely exterior though if that kind of thing rocks your boat.

I haven't heard the MKll but did get to audition the MKl. Not a bad little amp but pretty compressed soundstage compared to the X-Can V2 which I compared it against at the time. A very nice looking amp it was but sonically just pretty average, the MKll may well be a totally different kettle of fish and I'd love to listen to one. There must be someone here who's heard the MKll.

I've happened to see the inside of the Headbox Mk I SE, and I thought it and the MkII pretty much equal at the heart: seemingly the same schematic with rearranged circuit layouts, except for JRC 45xx single op-amps in place of the dual 2068.

Pinkie: Did you open the original version, too? I did and was rather disgusted about the innards - definitely not worth the 200 Euro for my taste. And even a modest PortaCorda on NiMH block cell smoked it in terms of sound quality....

bonethugz: That's the SE version Andrea has been talking about - and the original HeadBox Pinkie and I were talking about looks just the same. I don't know what has acutally been changed to the SE - maybe it has just been renamed, in order not to make it appear outdated. The naming scheme seems a bit weird anyway, as the MkII is actually a new and smaller model - so HeadBox Lite or something would have seemed the more logical choice to me.

bonethugz: Did you notive Jan Meier's recent Corda Headfive offer? This will most probably be a much better amp for ~ 200 Euro than the Pro-Ject.

thanks lini
i'm a little short on cash now since i got myself a k601 .

i heard the k601 needs an amp to perform well. i'm thinking getting an amp. i'm only asking that simply because nobody talk about the pro-ject brand. so i asked. i probably will make a couple more threads about some other brand. hope you and some other members here can help.
