I think we're in the midst of a Grado surge at the moment

, with Stax making a strong showing suddenly too. I've also noticed an upswing in those Shure earphones too. Baby Orpheus is bubbling under, too.

I think the ATH-W2002 has been "asleep" for a while, due for a "comeback". It would also be neat if the Ray Samuels Emmeline HR-2 became a fad, there would be a lot of satisfied listeners, methinks.

Did he ever put it in a case? Last time I remember seeing a picture of it, it was all over tables and the floor.

I voted for All Things Stax. I beleive that the amount of resepcted people has hit the point where it will create another flavor of da month. I should know, I just ordered a pair from Koji a few minutes ago. Combined with the KGSS they should be incredible.

Actually, he should be there already, and working so hard on my KGSS that he is unable to post I hope.

Where might you be seeing that progression young master Andy?

Stax, as soon as ServinginEcuador gets his Omega2 and KGSS.

Thanks for the incredible vote of confidence Eric. I hope to NOT come across as annoying if I do like the Stax as much as I think I will. I hate that in others and strive not to do so myself. There are a few wives that still seek my life and curse my name for the Grado and Sony remarks I made, but I can live with that. FCJ and screwdriver both are loving their new HP's to death, and that's all that matters.

The sad part is that all that Stax stuff on order won't be here until mid-July. They are both on order right now. One will arrive from Japan in just over a week, the other around mid-late June. Then, it will take until mid-July for them to arrive here at my locale where I will be too busy listening to post for a lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooo ooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggg gggg time. (At least that's what I hope will happen.

I doubt there will be too much of a run on Omega IIs at their cost, but I think that the whole Stax line-up has received too little attention and recommendation time here. If they are all that they're cracked up to be, I would promote their less expensive lines like the 2020, 3030, or 4040. Many have said that they were quite impressed with the 4040 they heard at the NY meet recently, but too bad the Omegas had such a poor showing. Tom said there was something going on with the balanced cabling and such used, and now that he is getting the Sennheiser HE90 he'll probably splurge for a KGSS and really show off how good the Omega II and Sennheisers can sound when amped with something Kevin Gilmore designed to improve upon where Stax leftoff.

Admittedly neither the KGSS nor electrostatics are for everyone. One thing is price alone. The KGSS ain't cheap, and have some stiff competition in Mikhail, Ray Samuels, Justin, and a few others' offerings of dynamic stuff in this day and age. The earspeakers aren't too expensive from the 2020-4040 systems, it just takes a big jump to the Omegas, just like from the HP-1000 to the Sony R10 in the dynamic world. (Only a bit smaller of a jump for the electrostatics.) (At $400 LIST price the 404s alone aren't too expensive.) Plus, not everyone likes the way that electrostatics sound, but who knows, maybe part of the problem is the amp feeding them their amplified signal.

If so, the KGSS might just win a few more over to Stax's camp due to it's sound. I for one would love to see what a pair of $400 Stax 404s would sound like using the KGSS.
