Precog's IEM Reviews & Impressions

Nice one Precog. As soon as I saw piezo drivers I knew there'd be treble trouble. As much as I enjoyed my time with some IMR IEMs, their piezo drivers never failed to zing the treble unacceptably. I'm yet to hear decent ceramic treble in an IEM form.

How come so many people are praising it and it's so bad? Well, ****. Trying to cancel my order 😂
Beware the hype train... Very few IEMs actually justify the hype over time. In this price segment I can only think of one (BLON BL-03) that actually does. Also, beware 'good for the price' in this hobby. 99 times out of 100 you get what you pay for.

Well, for me, the BL-03 hype was not justified by a micrometer. Hated it through and through - bassy and congested sound is all I can remember. My TCL SOCL300 and Philips SHE-2405 sounds much better than it, at least to my ears.

Yeah, I learned early on in this hobby that "well, it's 'only' $x" is a rationalization that can quickly lead to "real" money being spent, or, an annoying collection that just persists, hahaha. The last part is specific to me as I do not have a collector's mentality.

Same, don't quite see the point of collecting audio gear, but then I also have what I like and generally just go for that. Also, I only have two ears 😝

Yeah I just got reimbursed. Your comments made me have buyers remorse and I dont need another IEM, so dont feel like gambling in QC
precisely the reason I did not go for GK10...however bang for buck GK10 is, I simply do not use sub-100 USD iems any more for music listening, as they do not provide me the enjoyment that I can get from my other iems, and why lose precious times of of life listening to inferior quality of iem while I have access to better ones! Either 3DT or Land, occassionally ION-2S - those are my regular ones now.

Strangely almost nothing is better than what it’s priced at.....or close to what it’s priced at. You would think after a while there would be those “special finds”......but they sound about like they cost. There is a basic slow moving wave of stuff getting better but very few real values........that jump out. IMO

Maybe a $50 IEM will sound like $100.....but that’s only important if it matches your preference in signature. Hope springs eternal!

I'm with you there. Once you have better, it's a bit superfluous to listen to the cheaper stuff just because you have it. That said, I'm very glad IEM quality is now at the point where casual listeners or those on a budget or with other priorities in life have access to superb sound without much outlay. My BLONs haven't seen much use since I switched to TWS (Sony XM4) for casual/convenience listening, but that said, I could happily listen to the Sony and the BLON without pining for the higher end stuff. When I travel that's all I carry with me, along with a phone. They're at the point where 'good enough' is very, very good.

Yeah, starting to feel this. Might sell some stuff, keep my higher end iems and buds and get xm4 for convinience and commutes. How do you like your xm4?

Ill take a hit at HBB Mele and maybe Hana 2021. But prolly better to send all the money on new gear like a new dac/amp like Xduoo xd05/idsd bl/Lpw2 , altho it might be overkill for iems...
I am having an itch to try the FD3 Pro or Hana 2021, or may be the new Softears hybrid...but let's see, eyeing the Yanyin Aladdin as well...but will not finalise on anything unless I can find some well written reviews. Not before that. I do want a good DD+BA hybrid as a counterpart of Land, may be one with a smoother sound, at similar price range. Somehow, after Land, I have lost appetite for kilobuck iems...

Well, for travel I have the Shanling UP4, and my regular wired iems. Yup, I do not want to skimp out on sound quality even during travelling :L3000:

I'm not convinced with that FD3, but it's on the radar (pro version for cable memes). Hana 2021 is on cart. For warmer soft hybrids I have my Teas, just looking for a DD that is not Oriolus Isa...

Regarding Kilobucks, mest mk2 and u12t are still itching my brain :)
