Precog's IEM Reviews & Impressions

Can i get a comparison between the U4s and thieaudio Origin?, i'm dropping my bonus on a daily driver and some input would be great.

U4s is warmer with an emphasis in the upper treble. Forward but with a dip in the upper mids so no fatigue. Origin also has a peak in the treble but it is in the low or mid treble. Depends on what you want.

Origin has a fuller midrange. U4S is fuller in the low mids.

Origin has a big bass shelf but the bass quality is not on par with the U4S imo. It is more of what you value, quantity = Origin or quality = U4S.

In terms of shell size against competition, U4s is on the smaller side and Origin is one of the chonkiest. Though its chonky, it is not that uncomfortable at least for me.

Would love to hear Precog's impressions on some recent ~USD $300 releases like Volume S, CrinEar's.
I’ll try and get my ears on them, I think Super*Review has them so I might be able to borrow them after.

Been on vacation the last few weeks so been out of the loop haha

Tried a couple IEMs in Hong Kong, though:

I think the first one’s the Electron 12. This one sounds pretty weird to me with an odd pinna gain and some peaking in the lower treble and upper-treble (maybe around 12kHz, it has less extension than the Radon 6 to my ears). The bass is also pretty blunted. Didn’t like how it sounded but the swappable faceplate system’s pretty cool. Hopefully more IEMs hop on that train.

Second one’s the Radon 6, this actually sounds pretty good. Warmer sound with sub-bass focus with some slight mid-bass tilt, softer upper-mids and some sparkle in the mid-treble. Extension is solid at the top end compared to the Electron 12, and this is easily the best sounding FiR IEM to me.
