I bought a 10K pot but they gave me one with 3 lugs and not 6. Can i do my job with this or is it for mono only and not stereo.

The pot I ripped off a cd-rom drive is not easy to mount on a box and it has 5 lugs that i dont know what each one does neither do I know how to test them.

So can I connect the 3 legged pot somewhere or do i need 6 absolutely?

The one with 3 pins are single. You will need a dual audio/log potentiometer which either has 6 or 8. Where are you from? Perhaps you can find a suitable one from RS.

the one with 5 has probably got a common ground connection. Attach your multimeter (set to resistance)to different pins and measure the changes when you trun the pot....

turning clockwise, the resistance should decrease between the input and output of one channel

turning clockwise will make the resistance increase between the ground and output

'Logarithm' was coined by John Napier from
'lógos' and 'arithmós', so I'd expect you to be fine in Greece
