Post Your Photography Here #2

Very interesting... I was actually very unaware of the image settings on the camera. I think I just overlooked it and never looked back. Sure the best pictures are when there are immaculate light conditions, but I've noticed that even when there aren't, your pictures have great color and contrast to them. Guess I now know why. Thanks for the insight.

Anyway, I have the setup still there, just no sunlight right now. I love the coldness of the second picture. Lucky for me, I have some pink ones! I'll try and replace the orange ones tomorrow. I think I might want to get a slightly higher angle for it next time, too. Any other suggestions? Thanks for all the help.

I like the angle you used, and when using the pink colors, especially like the blue background (however that was created, it works!). I don't think I would change anything really, though if you can think of other things to try by all means have at it!

I actually stuck my pillow behind it, because that's the only thing I could think of to create a black background. For some reason it ended up blue, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'll have to set up my pillow again. That might take a few tries to get into the right spot.

So I've just been going around campus and snapping pics. I'm not quite comfortable with randomly snapping pics of people yet... hopefully later on in time.

The condemned music building at UBC. I don't know if they'll rebuild or just tear it down completely - but that's quite a lot of history that's going down the drain.

I chased a Murcielago down SW Marine Dr, handed my brother the camera on Av mode and told him to snap away. Got quite a few nice ones - however, had to heavily crop them because I had my Sigma 30 1.4 mounted and that's not the longest lens in the world... not easy getting close to a Murcielago!

And anytime, baby.

Oh, one of my most recent shots really caught my eye after it's been pp-ed, so I used it as my new background. It really is gorgeous.

Sorry for the spam! Can I get some feedback on my style and composition, too?

I wonder if some of the unicolor pictures (not B&W) would have looked better in full color.........

Unicolor? The sepia-toned ones?

Hmm.

IMG_53362.jpg

Maybe.

IMG_5358.jpg

I like the more dramatic B/W or sepia lighting.

This one I'll agree looks better in color.

Nope.

Close. It uses calculus. It's actually a graduate level math techniques course.
Good old analytic continuation of an unknown complex functions. ^_^

I wish math didn't have to be this hard..................

Roastpuff, nice pics. My dads car could have chased a Murcielago

Never get any wicked races now dads car is a CL55. Used to have tons of races with M3 etc. In the C320.

I love the one you are using as a desktop, better in colour though. Could you post the full-res one for a desktop? The one you posted looks over sharpened or pixelated (prolly the latter) when blown up

Thanks Alot,

Matt

Alright, took the new shot. All I've done is a little spot healing in PS. I missed a weird pixel in the top right, though. Could you guide me through how you'd edit this? I tried a few times and couldn't get it to look as good as I'd like, because the pink is a bit brighter than the purple when you increase the contrast and saturation.

Tutorial

Obviously, this is a very vibrant version. You can of course do the same thing, except not so dramatic.

A couple of days ago... lousy lighting, ISO 1600, 1/4000 sec. @ f/2.8 with a Canon "Nifty Fifty" on a first-generation Digital Rebel; this is cropped from the full-size image:

Nice tutorial. You should watch those end points though. You have a lot of clipping. Also, it's best to do as much as possible through global corrections like curves since going selective like that can introduce posterization. Global corrections to get you 90% there and then the little tweaks usually works well.

And turning on gamut warning helps too when your so close to the edge with bright or saturated colors. That also introduces posterization.
