I tried my hand at long exposure n my Canon so here's the results, along with HD desktop backgrounds for everyone!

I use a Canon PowerShot SX130IS. Me settings are:
 
- Tv mode
- ISO100 / ISO200
- 10 second timed
- Exposure set to 15"
- Macro mode on
 
Hope these settings help, maybe they can be tweaked a bit, what do you other guys recommend?

Depends on the other settings. I have a Canon 500D (T1i) and did some trial and error until I got what I wanted. The macro of the tubes was taken with the aperture open to 2.8 and the ISO set to 400. I ran that exposure for only a couple of seconds. With the second shot of the top of the amp I stopped down the aperture to 11 so it'd pick up a lot of detail and so that took 25 seconds to expose.

That's Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro.  
Are you using Tv, manual, or bulb mode for these exposures?
