Strab.. certainly looks unusual. pretty cool I think.

How's it sounding? Any improvements?

Hey Carlos,

Well after doing some experimenting, it sounds more like how it sounds with no screen at all, certainly better than the plastic. I feel only so much can be accomplished from changing the screen. Still a fun mod with a different look.

Well, this is my first try at doing something like this. I wanted to add the mono jacks so I can try out various cables... Some Mogami and Canare when I get back from vacation. Just refitted the standard Grado cable with the mono plugs. To add a little extra, I added some screening meant for a screen door and then re-glued the SR80 back on.

My Grado circumaural mod using ath-M50 pads. Also recabled with Mogami. Very comfy!

Pads are held in place by Beyer DT250 plates. Plates snap into plastic cup bases with the centers cut out. (lol, cups and plates) Grado drivers stuck onto the cup bases with blu tack.

@ Yoga Flame

Thanks! Glad the pads worked for ya, btw does that cable really change the sound or is it just fine tuning?

@les garten
Yup, the bass is about the same or perhaps more than a pair of taped bowls, but in this case, these pads give it a super awesome sound stage to compliment that bass.

At one point I did a small tape mod with the velour pads but it sacrficed airiness and became too bass heavy for me :p

Yes and no. I got these SR125s from someone else knowing that the left channel sound cuts in and out intermittently. Recabling fixed that. So you might say there is a night and day difference after recabling!

  But seriously, I can't really say since I had not heard these in stock form in working condition.
