post your grado mods....

I am in the process of building a pair of SennGrado with PMX100 drivers. Housing will be 3D printed. After extensive research, headband options seem to be:

- custom, too expensive for my taste
- Sony MDR 7506 with slight mod ($20)
- Generic foldable headphones ($10, Vivitar DJ Mixers)
- M50x 3rd party headbands. Haven't seen anyone else try this. According to the measurements, it should work the nub shortened. But quality looks pretty poor since it's not original parts.

Since I am printing my own cups (similar to original grado spec), I think I have more flexibility in picking the headband. Any recommendations on what other headbands I can consider? For example, I quite like these but not sure where I can just get the bands themselves. There are quite a few commercial headphones with mechanism that should fit with slight modding. But the headbands are generally not available as replacement parts.

I’ve recently received a set of pads from them. They are very much alive and kicking!

Did a bit of modding over the past few weekends on my old pair of SR-60i. Vented the drivers with 3 holes, bluetack on the back of the drivers. New metal grille set in place and dampened with more bluetack. Accessory House headband and Dekoni Nuggets on the gimbals (inspired by the Koss PortaPro ComfortZone). And of course the new orange paint job with touched up silver lettering. I think it matches nicely with the purple Yaxi S-cush pads.

Is there anyone offers grado modding service in Montreal or Canada? I'd like to have wood cups and leather headband for my SR225.
Have a look at Shipibo (Poland, but no problem to ship to CA), wabisabi (US), turbulent labs or therewillbedust (US).

If you won´t like to do it on your own, all of them could help you out in their way and fullfill all your wishes with ease.

I have always found the original vinyl headband on lower-end Grados to be uncomfortable and cheapish. After looking around for a bit, I have found someone who does affordable leather products and I’m proud to present:

It feels really supple and thick which made it really comfortable! Not to mention it’s cheap 😂😂
