It’s a somewhat different kind of Headfonia article this Friday as @Mightygrey shares his impressions on both assembling and listening to a fully bespoke headphone.
The drivers and parts were supplied by custom parts manufacturer Turbulent Labs. The total price of parts for this custom build came to $387 USD.

Pad mods are tricky. You could try switching to G-Cush, but those are the same material, just less direct contact with your ears...cable switches are easier. Buy a third-party cable and look at opening them up and replacing it yourself if you're handy with a soldering iron. Otherwise there are some folks out there that do the job for you...

Hey there, I'd like to have my RS2s with a balanced 2.5 cable. I am not expert at all so this question might be dumb, but can I just have the termination swapped? Or do I need to have the whole cable replaced?

Is there a Thread or Link for a SR325e mod? I don't like the cable. I want to change it and go Balanced. A Lighter, Thinner, more Flexible cable. Also, the ear cups are stiff and scratchy. I haven't used these cans in over a year because of this. I'm at the Mod or Sell point with them.
I finally after years sold my Alessandro MS-1 (SR-80) and bought SR325e, and love them.

I pretty much immediately bought these replacement L-Cush shape bowls that are pretty soft and give just as good sound as the original Grado bowl pads.

I also bought a set of replacement G-Cush large bowls and like them as well.

I made some cups from Barbasol shave cream tops, about 1+ inch depth, and covered them inside and out with .... yep, silver duct tape. The inner tape looks a bit sloppy, but with the pads on, you can't see the tape. I like the nice silver & black contrast. They fit perfectly over the outer lip, and the earpads stretch just a bit to go on and stay snug. I go back and forth between the 2 different bowls from Amazon -- the G-Cush gives a wider more open, slightly less focused sound due to larger inner bowl size.

100 points for creativity, and thinking outside the box on what mods can be done! :D

Have a look at this thread if you haven't already...

Very nice metal cups! Personally I prefer wood cups like these, feel they make the sound more natural... probably just my imaging...

Just start reading in this tread - and wow! Looking forward to keep reading! I have two sets Grado SR80e. For maybe 6 month ago I get crazy with them, testet different pads etc, and can just start reading already see that my skills here are a newbie of a newbie of a newbie kind of state...

I really will read all posts here, and come back at you all.

For fun I can post some pictures of my "mods" on the two sets that I have changed pads on, both sets have glued-on (two-component strong glue) two pads, the one with leather on a "foamy"-chinese aftermarket "jallavalla", ment for the GS1000 series, the other the "coin-modded" original foam pad, glued on a velour Beyerdynamic 990series-pad. They look crazy, and has each crazy-sound-signature. It is allowed to have a good weekend laugh for you all here.

Hi guys, any tips on how to swap the headband on the SR60e? I don't understand how to disassemble it without destroying everything.
Try Youtube, I think there was a video or two that showed how to remove the rod blocks from the headband if that is what you are asking

My 1st mod.

The drivers are from an SR60i (with three vents).

I like how it looks...and I'm surprised by how great it sounds.
