Is it wrong that I've had my Grados for about seven hours, surfing this thread (little James Blake going on 'em) and already I want to tear them apart and do wonderful things to them?

Its natural. Especially if you're surfing this thread. Have you seen the other one of a similar strain..? :D

No, it's not wrong at all.  In fact, when you look at the cheap cost of the mods vs. the performance you gain, it's like if you had a 7 year old car and were able to buy a turbo charger to install on it for $50.  There's definitely a benefit to performing the mods.

What makes me happy is that surge of people buying Grados who might have skipped over them before now that there is even more value in them.

Another thing is that this will most certainly add pressure to Grado Labs to either lower prices, dismiss the SR-125 and replace it with the SR-225 for the same price segment, drop the RS-1 to RS-2 pricing, etc. I've thought of it for years having explored most of the line. They have to either lower prices or increase the build quality and materials for the money you pay. Now I don't think build quality and materials are really in question to people who already enjoy them for what they are, but it's a huge problem for people either unfamiliar or not a fan of the brand.

If you could get SR-225 build and sound for 150 dollars, that would be a huge game changer.

This thread along with other G-mod threads have given me renewed interest on head-fi. I didn't post for like 2 years until I stumbled upon these!

If you study econs.. rise in demand = rise in prices, not drop :p Okay that's discounting economies of scale, but I doubt they'd be expanding production size..

^when that song first started I was like "why did he say there was bass in this song? Theres nothing there" fast forward about a minute and my reaction turned too "HOLY **** BASS"
(as I run to the bathroom to make sure my face wasn't just melted off by the bass)

Proud owner of a Grado RS2 "Classic A" here, with a new Non Swivel Headband, no more twist and turn of my headphone cord.
