I think it may be the best dac in my house, now

sounds very good, but I don't admit to being better than my test gear. I do have rmaa ability and I'll run it thru later on, but it does sound quite clean to my ears, as it is.

yes, it has toslink. and coax and usb via a pcm29xx chip.

imho, all the connectors (except toslink) need replacing/upgrading. well, usb is ok, I guess

that vertical thing is an upsampling module. multiplies your data 4x so 48k goes to 192k, then into the dac chip. there are switches to set the dac format (24 or 16 bit, i2s , left or right bits and so on). nice hackable unit.

Does it come with any kind of operations instructions or do you have to just know what you're doing? If the former I might buy one and just leave it uncovered, as I think it looks pretty cool like that

I would be able to plug my Xbox360 into it, pass the optical audio into my laptop, then out through my X-fi Surround to my 5.1 speakers rather than having to dig out my old Soundblaster Extigy and switching everything around, would be much better.

Last thing I bought was a 28 box of Pizza Pops, Pepperoni and Bacon flavour, mmmm.
