Hello, as my first post i need some help for my new full headphones :).

My main goal is music (listening)

- I am a HUGE fan of post rock things (Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, 65daysofstatic, This Will Destroy You, maybeshewill, If These Trees Could Talk...)

- Acoustic rock/"soft" rock/ fingerstyle:  I like Ben Howard, Damien Rice, U2, Radiohead and fingerstyle  like John Butler or Kaki King

- HipHop 80s & 90s/Reggae/Hard Rock  but not as much

I really want to feel some emotions with a good headphones especially with piano/guitar on post rock/rock :)
My budget is beetween 150 & 300$. I already did my research (i read that open back headphones are better for this)but didn't find a recent post about post-rock headphones i kept =>

Sennheiser 598 - Fidelio x2 - Q701 - Sennheiser 600/650 (if really good because 598 seem fine)

But maybe there is better option in 2016 especially for my style, thanks :)!

The only two bands out of your list Ive heard are Ben Howard and 65 Days of Static, the rest I havent a clue, but I will assume it is similar.

I would def suggest open back, revealing with wide sound stage and imaging=AKGs or to a lesser degree BeyerDynamics

Can't go wrong with the HD600/650. Depending on your sonic preference. If you like VERY neutral, the HD600. If you like warmer, more bass, the HD650.

The HD650 has more bass. That's why it exists. The HD600 is the more neutral headphone. Which one is better really only depends on your tastes. In this case, you would like the 600 more.

Thats why I suggested AKGs to begin with:

they dont have huge bass
theyre great for picking up detail
very wide sound stage and good imaging...perfect for the type of Indie/Post rock you like

Thanks for your answer again, so AKGs and Senny 598/600

Do you recommend any akg especially or they sound approximately the same for my music taste? I just saw the Q701 because detachable cable is always good..

The only current AKG I have owned is the K7XX,which is a great headphone for the cash.I currently own 4 AKG headphones but theyre all retired models.
Others swear by The Q,others like the K712,but most seem to agree bang-for-the-buck award goes to the K7XX.

Also understand the Sennheiser 600s and AKG are entirely different sounding headphones. Both are solid, but the Senns are laid back, slightly veiled and have virtually no width to its soundstage, whereas the AKG K7XX is the polar opposite, more lively and airy with a wide soundstage.

I used to own both.Sold the AKGs cuz I had better options for that sound in my inventory.
Sold the Senns cuz,well.....I got bored with them.YMMV.

Understand however both the 600s and K7XX(not sure on the Quincy)will both require an amp.
