OK, here you go..

Old atx aluminum case with a new mobo carrying Pentium D 805 dual core 2.66 hHz, with 1.5 gigs pc4200 ram and a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card for playback. Sony 19" trinitron monitor, Altec Lansing Dolby Pro Logic computer speakers, with the sub just visible down and to the left in the corner of the room for max bass boost. The remote on the desk is for the Yamaha so I don't have to reach over to turn it up and down.

Sanyo direct drive, linear tracking turnable which I use for ripping warped records. Yamaha RX500U 50w/ch receiver with variable loudness control. MXR graphic eq for presetting everything so it sounds good to my ears. Below the eq is my Teac Tascam 103 professional three head cassette deck for the rare occasion I rip an old cassette.

Headphones are Yamaha HP-3 Orthodynamic playing from the Yamaha. Earbuds are Panasonic RP-HJE50's playing from my Altec usb sound card.

My main recording setup. Mitsubishi LT-22 direct drive, quartz locked, linear tracking turntable with a B&O MMC 3 cartridge right now. Flat preamp just to the right of the turntable has no RIAA eq, all eq is done in software for extreme accuracy. Speakers are Infinity three way with 10" woofers, 3" dome midranges and 3/4" dome tweeters.

There is a DBX 120X subharmonic synthesizer and a Kenwood receiver to drive the speakers.

The recording computer is a Compaq with a 1.5 gHz Celeron and carrying an M Audio Audiophile 2496 card. I use two 802.11g usb dongles to connect the two computers and I almost always remote control the recording computer with WinXP's remote desktop, which carries the audio also.

Oh yeah, I built both of the wooden stands shown in the pics. I never got to finish the one with the TV because the TV got put in there right after I got done making it and it's too darn heavy to get out by myself.

. I live in a townhouse, when I had my setup in the living room the neighbors would holler. A64 X2 3800+ @ 2.6GHz - ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - 1.5GB Kingston Hyper X PC3200 - 1212M - 700GB storage - 7900GS - dual LG 20.1" widescreens. Plus I have an IPCop firewall box (lower right corner), a SAMBA box, 3 laptops, and 2 modded Xboxes.

I like the acoustic treatment on the wall behind your speakers, if I had the money I would like to do a "live end, dead end" setup.

Hi,

I do have neighbors in the floors below and above. However, I dont listen too loud, I only turn the volume up when watching movies once in a few days and that is it. BTW, when listening to music I never turn the SW on, the speakers are more than capable of reproducing low freqs. The SW is for the movies for LFE and that is it.

As for the speakers, they really are works of art. The tweeters are the ODT-33 which is the same as the Morel MDT-33 which costs a lot of money. The dome midrange is the ODM-56 the best dome midrange they produce (you can see them at renaudio.com I think). The Dome midrange does have a certain sound to it which is very different than most of the cone mids, the sound is less harsh, and very very good with especially woman vocals. However, the drawback of such a driver is the high freq it has to be XO'ed at so the bass elements actually kick in higher than with most cone mids. I do have a second system in the other room which uses an Omega-Audio Encore 709 which uses the same tweeter, a cone mid-bass made by Morel (same one they use in the Octave 5.2) and a 9" woofer they make, an amazing speaker, one of the best I've heard. Only problem with it is that it has to be placed in a large room as the bass it produces is almost as low and at least as powerfull as the Tannoy sub woofer

The eagle on the wall was made by a relative and really looks great in real life, much better than on pictures.

As for the acoustic treatment, its a pain in the butt

I originally used a few SONEX boards which are about 2inch thick and made the sound dry. Than I moved to these which are up to 8" thick in some parts which really makes affect on lower frequencies than the Sonex. It still doesn't fix everything, but using them makes a big difference. I'm now on the way of using the PC as a RC system, it'll take some time, by I have most of the thing already including a good mic for the job.

The reason I noticed the high quality woodwork on the speakers is that my brother is a master woodworker and produces things like this:

He even made the curved glass on the ends, placed sheet glass on a large piece of steel pipe and heated it in a kiln until the glass slumped.

The ivory pieces are from his collection.

I was just thinking about it and realized that not a single component in my system, aside from the flat preamp I mentioned, was purchased new.

Perhaps some of you might be interested in my _third_ system, this one I inherited from my father in law when he passed away about a dozen years ago. Not exactly computer sound, but in its day it was considered top of the line.

The flash makes it look way nastier than it is.. Same for the pic below.

I bet there are others but it indeed does the job of illuminating my room quite well.

My PC is still my nr.1 hobby, and i have quite alot of requirements for my rig (dead silent when idle, damn fast en good lookin').

"Shame" that im on vacation for a week so i cannot post a picture of the full rig, but then again without the E-MU 0404 it isn't Beyerdynamic worthy anyway.
