Hi!

I just received my PortaPro's a couple of hours ago!
I wanted some decent portable stereophones to use at home and while travelling!
In fact, I discovered this amazing forum when I first began my heroic search for decent stereophones at an afordable price...
And I say heroic because nowadays it's almost impossible to reach a final decision! We are flooded with merchandising and publicity and chinese copies of our good electronic equipment!

But I finally came to my final decision! The famous and successful Koss PortaPro!

First impression:

- They really look awkward at a first glance. (I do not consider them ugly, though)

- They do have an amazing sound for a 25€ stereophones! Really!
As I have read before, the high's could be a little more sparkly...

I read many reviews. Some say they're great, some say it's their last choice. Other's (like myself) think PortaPro's are not the best phones in the market (for sure!

) but, for this price, it's definitely the best choice!

Now, my very first questions!
-One of the speaker enclosures comes of quite easily! Is it normal? The other side doesn't seem to come out that easily...

-In the left side there is a screw. What is it for??

Note to reader's: I am a Portuguese guy so forgive any mistakes.

The driver does come off pretty easily, the other one just may be a bit tighter. The screw is intended to hold different parts of the the headband together.

I haven't experienced that with mine. In fact I would say they are quite the tank!! I get my cord caught on cabinet knobs all the time at home. I have had them ripped off my head, cable ripped out of my walkman....many many times. They hold together and in place quite nicely.

Thanks you for your replies!

to get slightly better highs and more controlled bass, stretch the headband a little and/or use the loose or medium setting above the drivers on both sides of the headband.
