I was totally thrilled when I saw koss phones in my local elctronics store today... And even more so when I saw they carried the PortaPro. However, the thrill went away shortly after when I discovered their price of about $100.

Well, at least we can get beyers and senns for cheap here in Europe.

Agreed. The Portapros are great phones but they're great inexpensive phones. I couldn't imagine paying that much for them.

I actually payd 80€ of my portapros and the starting price was 100€. It is a shame that Koss phones are so expensive here on europe.

I thought the Euro was doing quite well of late, basically within a cent or two of the value of a dollar.

Well Euro/Dollar was some time ago 1:1 . I think the reason for that price difference is in somewhere else. Maybe Koss is greedy and wants to make more money in Europe

Not forgetting the 17.5% Value Added Tax of course. In some European countries it's even higher.

I don't know how differing VAT rates are dealt with though. The only item I've ever bought in Europe via the net had VAT added at the suppliers country rate (20%

Oh, I almost forgot...

The portapros go for $25 plus shipping off of Koss' website here in the US. That's after a 50% discount, so they are regularly $50 plus shipping (but can probably be found at discount shops for maybe $30-40.
