This is my first post. This is a great forum!.

I have a set of SR80s that I have been walking around town with. Needless to say, I can now really hear all the imperfections of my pcdp (sony d-e990). I am looking for a highly portable unit that has enough power to handle the Grados and good sound that I can listen to at low as well as higher volumes (anything from libraries to subway platforms. I'm thinking either pcdp or a hard disc player like ipod or nomad.

The nomad looks interesting and powerful. Is .wav truly uncompressed CD quality? Can anyone give me some advice about what I should do? I get the impression from reading the boards that the d-777 is the only way to go in portable cd players, but what is the recommended ipod-type player?

Thanks.

John
