okay the imod is to make freat sound come out of your ipod etc, is there any portable players that dont need to be modded and still produce fairly well?

There are a bunch. The Zune, D2, etc. has a decent headphone out, but purely in headphone outs I have to nominate my Kenwood HD30GB9.

If you're looking for something in particular, you would get a lot of help with a few details.

Based on sound quality, I second the HD30GB9, and I add the JVC XA-HD500 (you can find it on eBay). If you don't need 30gb hard dislk space, it's GREAT value.

glad to know cuz i heard getting the ipod modded was a lot on top of the 250 for a 30 gig ipod
