HD 448 would be one to look into then, especially if you prefer a snazzy but small-ish circumaural that responds well to amping but does not require it. HeadRoom summarizes their sound very nicely. Only drawback to its portability is that it doesn't fold or collapse. But it is small and light, and it has a short cord.

If price isn't an issue and you don't mind buying online what about the ESW9 or if you can find a pair the ESW10 frrom Audio Technica? The pairs I have heard sounded VERY NICE and the wood design is nice looking as well as sonically pleasing. Just be carefull to get real ones versus fakes.
