Does anyone know of a good portable CD player with a line out? I'm currently using a Sony D-CJ506CK. I'm not finding any discman type units with seperate line outs. Thanks!
I didn't know the Sony's digital out doubles as a line out?
What about the old Panasonics? I have 2 that has a dedicated line out. The sx460 and 469 with tuner both still working perfectly.

Yep, the Sonys' digital out doubles as a line out.
As for the old Panasonics, the separate 'line out' on most such Panasonics are actually NOT true line outs at all, but instead are connected to the same crappy headphone op-amp, but not directly connected to any volume-control pots. I can tell that is the case: Any EQ function, such as S-XBS, Live and Train modes, will also affect the sound at the 'line out'.
wow, that's news to me.
Some of them Sony's are very beautiful and they feel more robust than a Panasonic. Their finish looks much deeper than a Panasonic.
Gotta let my friend try my cmoy on his Sony now.
I heard back from Iriver that all but their least expensive CD players have a line out. However when I purchased one, the signal was very weak, so it went back. According to Sony support none of their portables have a line out which seems to be opposite what some are saying here.
Hello Eagle_Driver, does that line out tied to the headphone also apply to mine? I always thought the 4 equalizer modes really helped. If you are including mine also, then I have to assume that I am in dire need of a new portable that will give me better sound. This does surprise me as I thought I had it about as good as it could get.
Also do you have any suggestions on a better choice?
