Hey, has anyone seen any portable amps ( from major manufacturers or private individuals) for sale in Tokyo?
So far I have only seen the Audio- Technica (a/c powered) amp.
Has anyone taken an amp like that and modded the power circuitry to be d/c?

Go to Dynamic Audio 5555 in Akihabara - http://www.dynamicaudio.com/ - , they have a good selection of headphones and headphone amps. Not a lot of truly portable, but a couple. You might want to also try Yodobashi Camera's Multimedia Akiba, right by the station. They have a couple of headphone amps there, but I think they are ATs and Stax. Online, Headphone shop Airy - http://www.airy.co.jp/ - sells Stax, Corda and Grado portable amps.
