My main, and pretty much only source of music on the go, is my iPhone. I was considering a FiiO amp a few minutes ago until I realized that I'll probably lose the headset functionality with an amp. Is that correct? Do any portable amps support iPhone headsets?

Yes, most amp don't support mic at all. You might be interested on the upcoming FiiO E02i though. It probably won't going to be as good sounding as a full size amp, but it will give you amping and mic support at the same time.

FiiO is releasing image of an upcoming product call the E02i 'ROCKY'. You can think of it as an upgrade mix of FiiO E1 and E3, an in-line amp with mic and remote support for the iPhone. Detail is slim at the moment, but there is also the possibility of a version for smartphones other than Apple.

If I remember correctly, it is comming out this or next month. Well, availbility will probably be around next month.
