I have a pair of px 100's and a pair of cx400's that I use with an Ipod touch. Would either of these headphones greatly benefit from a portable amp? I have noticed that my px 100's sound a bit better connected to my laptop which is why I'm here! If, needed any amp that is >$50 and a notable improvement to sound quality? Thanks!

My PX100's sound a bit punchier with an amp (Fiio E3/E5), which incidentally fits your budget quite well. They don't benefit nearly as much as some other phones tho, so it's your call. If the minute improvement in impact from an E5 and an extra gadget on your belt/desk is worth $18 to you, then the answer is obvious.

My PX100's sound better through my Headamp AE-2 than straight out of my Sansa. However I don't know if it makes much sense to spend even $60 (PA2V2) to improve the sound of $30 headphones.
