If I'm not mistaken, the Hornet is build by Ray with the HD600 as reference, so it pairs best with HD600 and if you ask Ray himself, I bet he'll recommend the HD600.
Look at Ray Samuels Audio amps. The HD600 senn is Ray's favorite can so he definitely have tested the amps with it. Have read, not only in this thread, that the HD600 sounds awesome out of the Hornet ...
Ray sure does love the HD600s. And balanced through the B52 is the best sound that I have ever heard. (And even better I thought than the $4000 Sony R10 which was the winner in comfort and did sound great.)
Never heard a Hornet but that sounds like a good recommendation for the HD600. Xin Reference with its big cap (much like the Hornet) should be another good choice if you are patient.
Phil's new Lisa III would definitely be my top pick for this. The HD600's need some serious voltage swing and not many portables run off 2x 9V's, plus the discrete output stage should provide enough output current.
I wont recommend a particular brand, but you better get a powerful amp to get the most out of it. If not, you will end up getting few amps down the road. That's all I want you to know.
