The PC was my first ever amp. When I got it I thought it was the best sounding thing Ive ever bought. Then I found other amps(full sized). Im looking for a better portable amp.

Can you guys plz recommend some amps?

I find the PC to be abit restricted, undynamic and uncontrolled even when powered by 24v.

my first amp was a porta corda 2 .

since then i had upgraded and so far all have been better than the porta corda 2.

i got a cmoy with meier xfeed (runs on 2 , 9v batteries) - this is better than the porta corda 2 , more detail , soundstage and bass response.

then i got a meta42 board based amp , - upgrade from the PC2 and the cmoy. better in all aspects .


then i got a gilmore V2- this is in another league .

then i got the melos amp - workds weel with my grado HP-1.

I got the original PC.

It rarely gets used now.

Is there a difference in sound quality betten the 2 PC's?

ctn: Yes, the PC(II) sounds a little more refined, detailed, musical and powerful in the bass to me. On the other hand, it seems to react a little more critical to battery voltage (= more prone to clipping with battery drain) - but that could also have been due to a not optimally charge battery, so it's more an impression, yet...
