So the Pono is a fantastic device, but the battery life is a little low for my tastes.

Have any of the more intrepid DIY people tried upgrading the battery to something with higher capacity? The teardown video here makes it sound like the battery is easily accessed and replaced...

I am also interested in an upgrade battery for the Pono.

Hi Folks, I installed a new high capacity battery in my 6 year old Ponoplayer. It worked because I was very careful and I am a seasoned electronics tech. My method was straight forward for me but not plug and play for the average person. I did spot weld nickle tabs on the battery terminals and reused the protection PCB...

Having said that here is a link to my procedure.

Here is the battery I installed.

Thanks for your efforts and instructions. I'm still getting 6+ hrs of continuous playback, but will refer to you instructions when the time comes to replace the battery.

There's a few of us here that holds the Pono dear. It would've been a nice design if the PONO allowed an easy battery swap functionality without soldering. I've cycled through my share of various DAPs, and the PONO stands tall in providing pure musical enjoyment at the highest levels, IMO.
