Who do you think might be featured during the opening ceremony in Germany on June 9, 2006?

Those artists will perform in front of about 2 billion (?) audience worldwide!
Actually does anyone have any estimate of the potential audience?

I don't know how they heard it but the rumour/talk going around my dad's work is that Right Said Fred are going to be singing at the opening ceremony.

Hope it is not some ultra-pop teen idol.

I actually half-expect Michael Nyman to appear; after all he did quite a few soccer-themed compositions. In a interview two years back he said he was writing something with a tentative title "Nyman vs Beckham".

Presumably it was to be an exercise of minimalism vs maximalism

A 30 min opening according to the tv guide. I wouldn't be suprised if they're goning to say something about the joing countries and the condition of the grass and be done with it. But then again, I had no idea there was a offical opening ceremony so what do I know.

Tool performing Rosetta Stoned, just to set the right mood.

PS: It's Madonna, and with correcting this I accept the devastating consequences.
