Poll: Sensaphonics custom IEMs/ear plugs.

I had more than 10 refits. I'm not a perfectionist but the fit issues with me were just crazy. Westone made a fit for me the first time that Sensa couldn't accomplish in over 10 attempts. Same audiologist making the impressions. I think it might just have to do with the soft material and how it fit in my ears. If I were to do it over again, I'd fly to Chicago and have them make me a pair to avoid all the hassle. It would be cheaper and would save my sanity vs. the time and expense of multiple refits.

Ten refits! Ten refits! You're just lucky the audiologist didn't garrote you in your chair!

LOL, what a great thread!

Blitz, are you looking for Sensaphonics in particular or feedback on any brand of custom IEM? I will be picking up my Westone sleeves on Thursday so I can at least report initial impression at that time (but if you are only looking for Sensa info I can't help).

I had to get impressions twice, but that was because the first impressions were done wrong.

As for the fit, I needed to get my left monitor shaved down a bit at the tip in the ear canal. It was putting pressure on the canal, causing quite a bit of pain.

Now the fit is pretty close to perfect. I get a great seal. The right monitor puts slightly more pressure on the canal than the left, but my ears have adjusted now.

Both my Sensaphonics and UE had a fit issue. The Sensas were perfect upon receipt of the second set. I'm in the midst of making sure that the UE fit well before I consider another refit. They're not as comfortable, but then again they're made of acrylic, and not silicon, so that's to be expected. Until I can determine whether or not I have a fit issue I'll stick with what I've got.

I had my impressions done only once. They were and are perfect. Absolutely no problems with the seal- perfect. One thing to mention, though- I had it done by the very founder of Sensaphonics in the U.K.

Because of the soft silicone they will be much more comfortable than e.g. UE's.
