Ok I gotta admit, last year's SoCal Meet was a source of inspiration for this.

Think I'll try to take a stab at organizing a regional meet. Managing events isn't one of my strong skills so I'll probably need some help, can anyone volunteer? Speak now!

That said, I'd really like to see a NorCal Meet and I'm willing to do what it takes to get one going! I already have a couple access perks, so that'll probably come in handy for me.

I'd like to do a two-day meet like they did at the SoCal one (and like the International) because one day just doesn't feel long enough for meets that involve more than 10 people, but if it becomes too expensive I might have to reduce it to a one-day. If I have to do this, assume the meet will be on the Saturday of the weekend options in the poll. Regardless, vote for the weekend that's most convenient for you! I have four specific locations in mind - two in San Jose, one in Sunnyvale, and one in Palo Alto (already did the scouting on two of them) - all I need is a date to target so when I have that I can start moving towards a plan.

Unless you want ot keep it to local boys and girls only, would you guys consider me for any meet announcements. I live in LA but my family is in Livermore so I often make trips there around the time of year you're talking about.

Thanks,

Laurence

This meet will be open to anyone and everyone that wants to come, just vote for your preferred weekend and I'll plan the meet around the one with the most votes!

If the meet doesn't end up being too big, I'll consider coming (I'd prefer going to smaller meets over larger meets first as I imagine they wouldn't be as noisy and I'd have more time to extensively sample gear; of course, I've yet to go to a single Head-Fi meet, so I'm just making an educated guess here about the differences between a smaller meet and a larger meet).

Sorry but I'm going to be trying to make this as big a meet as possible! I'll also be doing what I can to get some vendor participation too, vendors always make a meet 10X better!

SoCal here but I can probably come since I'm free at around that time. I can bring my balanced Denon D2000s, Zapfiltered Zhaolu, balanced β22 amp, a Class D headphone amp, Doge 6210, and some other tube amps.

azure: don't worry, Berkeley and the bay area have many of these little meets, including one two weeks from now (check Humanflyz's thread).

Asr: I'm totally in for whatever weekend and whatever you would like me to do/volunteer to help you make this happen.

Humanflyz: excellent reason why we should have it the 11th

I'll volunteer to be badge-boi. Any of those weekends will work for me AFAIK. I also have a venue I can get my hands on for free - holds up to 80 people for meetings, but probably quite a few less with tables of gear in place. PM me if you'd like to discuss.

For those of us from SoCal, anything north of Santa Barbara is considered NorCal
