after some input on deciding on a new amp for my rig

I was trying to sell my ipod, (no luck) to go for an all in one, so will re-invest in one of the above

My equipment:

5.5th gen ipod, modded with cf card and rock-boxed
copper cabled LOD
Beyerdynamic dtx501
JVC HXT-90

my music tastes are dance, house, trance, edm mostly - however i am by no means a bass head

i've searched and read but thought i'd throw it to the vote :)

Since my E12 arrived Thursday, and my C5 yesterday, I'm not yet entirely ready to vote.
But if I had to :)P), based on some intensive listening today, I'd pick the C5
for its slightly greater overall clarity and more neutral presentation.

But to be fair, it's too soon to tell.

After a couple of months listening to the E12 and C5
I'm going to modify my comment (above) to say that
they are different and I like both.

It's like having two sets of headphones, both of which
I enjoy; neither of which I favor over the other.

  can you be more descriptive?

Well, this post is from a while back and both of those amps
are long gone from my collection.

From memory, I can tell you that the E12 had plenty of power,
was very nicely made, but had a narrow soundstage.
The C5 was also nicely made.  I recall it being very
neutral and reasonably powerful (i.e. enough to easily
drive most headphones).

I'd go with the C5 over the E12 despite the difference in cost,
(I'd save up a bit more if that was called for: about $50.00)
as the C5 was overall smoother, more neutral, and lacked the
overly narrow soundstage presentation of the E12.
