The SLAM incarnations of the PPX3 and MPX3 have not only garnered a huge following here at head-fi but also won critical acclaim from the press. Quite simply, they constitute an industry benchmark for affordable tube amping, along with one or two of head-fi's other faves.

I'd like to see if we can summarize here which headphones provide the most enjoyment with these great amplifiers. I have includes a few staple phones in the poll, but you're most welcome to add your comments below, including your tubes of choice and must-have upgrades to bring your phones to their fullest potential.

Cheers!

I bet you get lots of different opinions on this question. Every headphone I have tried with the SLAM's sounds excellent .... so most people will probably be picking their favorite headphone like usual. The Senn 600/ cardas, AKG K701 and the Grado PS-1 or HP-2 sound especially good with the SLAM .... to my ears. The new AT 5000 is another headphone that sounds very good with the SLAM's; from a brief audition.

If I had to pick a favorite I would say right now its a tie between the Senn 600/cardas and the AKG K701 ..... with the K701 looking good for the stretch run.

I know the topic has been discussed ad nauseam in the past, but with a few interesting new cans having popped up in the last 12 months or so and some big meets just behind us, I thought it makes sense to consolidate this information into a new thread. Let's see if people bite.

I like all of my headphones with the SLAM, but if I have to pick one it would be the CD3000
