Which one's would provide a better sound for the ipod? I have a sky blue mini to mini, if i use this instead for the sik din instead of the sik din ram by itself would the sound be the same or better? Thanks for any comments.

About all I can say is that the pocketdock is a bit bigger and if you use a case for your Ipod it may not allow the pocketdock to fit in. Leaving you with the choice I have, change case or get a Sik Din.

The SiK's are shielded against electric interference, and does not pick up the hard-disk noise when playing.

Wasn't this a problem with only certain ipods?

I have the pocketdock and like it very much. It does not easily disconnect as I had feared and I like being able to use my own ICs.

Going back to my question, Should I get a sik din and use my own IC or the sik ram din? Would it make a difference with sound? Thanks.

I also plan to cut the firewire cable that comes with the sik din, In Xin's forum he discusses how to do this. As i have no use for the firewire cable.

Also I plan on selling my 4 g mini and get the ipod 30g, is there anyway to delete the files in my mini without having to clear it out of my itunes? I plan to transfer it when i get the 30g after I sell my mini. I wouldn't want to clear all my files just to take it out of the mini and having to start over again when I get my 30 g.

I use a Pocketdock with my 3G and have never heard any sort of noise coming from the hard drive using it (or with the Sik Ram Din, which I also tried). The slightly larger size of the Pocketdock isn't bothersome to me, and it's never popped out of my iPod, but if you're worried about either size or whir, I'd suggest the Sik Din, since you already have a Sky Blue Mini.

If you manually manage your iPod/iTunes, you can delete songs off your iPod and have them remain on your hard drive (or vice versa). Be careful that any new iPod you connect doesn't auto-sync right away, though, or you might end up losing some songs.

I have the PocketDock Firewire with Line Out, the PocketDock USB with Line Out and the Apple Dock.

Using several different mini-mini cables and the PocketDocks or Dock with an iPod 30GB, I've never heard noise due to hard-disk spinup.

I've never tried the Sik cables, but I chose the PocketDock in order to try different mini-mini cables.

I've heard differences between mini-mini cables. Some are very slight and could be imaginary. An Audiogeek cable I just got is very different from other cables I've tried.

If you're hearing hard drive noises through the PocketDock, you've got a faulty one. I emailed SendStation and complained, and they sent me a replacement free of charge. With a decent cable, the Pocket Dock sounds better than the Sik Din, but with an average cable it sounds the same. The short Kimber and Ted's Earcandy are both excellent, with Ted's Earcandy being my favourite, but it is over $100, so it depends on how much you want to spend. Both available from Headroom.

Well, I just got the SiK Ram Din in white ... not going to worry about the firewire -- I actually want it to power the iPod while it plays (I listen mostly at work and home, but have a portable rig for easy transport). I thought about getting a PocketDock for a while, but I figured that the SiK Ram Din cable would be good enough ... especially since I shouldn't be listening critically at work in the first place.
