Hi guys.
I need to buy some high-end headphones. I'm after an on-ear (not in-ear) design for home use.
I'm currently using some Sennheiser HD-25-1 - I like them but they're borrowed from a friend so I have to return them at some point!
I find the Senns very good in terms of the sound I like. Perhaps a little more sub-bass (an extra 1 or 2 db in the 50hz range) would be ideal. I do find them very uncomfortable though - I can only listen for about 30 mins max before my ears hurt (I also wear glasses which doesn't help).
I also have access to some Senn HD-490 (open back) which are OK for occasional casual use - they're very comfortable. But they don't have anywhere near the SQ i'm after.
I'd like to stick with a closed-back design as I often listen late at night and I don't want to disturb anyone.
I currently used a tweaked MF X-Can V2 as the amp. Budget is around £150 (up to $300).
Thanks
Chris
