Hello
I'm hoping to get some advice on full size headphones. I do most of my listeng with IEM's, my favorite being my Shure E500 PTH. I find these to best suit my listening tastes. For those times I wish to give my ears a rest, what full sized headphones would most closely match the sound signature of the Shures. I listen to all genres of music and use an amped Ipod. Thanx for taking the time to respond

E500s were the perfect complement to my HD600s and new 650s. The sound signature is different, but they go well together. 650s seem to work for everything so far, nothing sounds bad, all sounds good 'cept the crappy 128s that find there way into my library.

Hmmm. I to have the Shure E500s. Just from what I heard and own I do like the HD 650s for a open soundstage. For a closed sound stage I liked the SR 225s. They are awesome

. What types of music do you like to listen too? You can check my profile and see what I listen too to give you an idea if that's the types of genres you would listen to on your cans. Also, what is your budget? Depending on a budget you could get an amp as well.

I guess you might like the SR -225s because they are good good for rock and other genres of course. But on the other hand you might like the HD 650s, because they are fun, and have a good soundstage as well. I listen to White Stripes, Portishead and some Toby Keith & David Gilmour. I'm kinda leaning on the SR-225s on this one. To be honest I had borrowed them from a friend and I really like them, especially for rock and alternative. The guitar, drums, and vocals were awesome. I have them coming in next week. Once I burn them in I'll post my impressions with them. BTW, like your profile pic

I would go with HD-650's and an improved cable, assuming you have the power. I am unfamiliar with an "amped iPod", although the RSA Hornet would probably do the job.
