I have decided to look into the FiiO amps as my first portable. I am deciding between the E1 and E5; and I would like some of your helpful input as too which one would be better (pros and cons). I would use it with an iPod Touch. I have looked at reviews for each but I am looking for a comparison if possible.

E1 - Amp/lod combo, get's it's power from the ipod (no bass boost)

E5 - Has bass boost feature, needs to be charged

I prefer the E5 for the bass boost feature alone. If you are looking for a cheap lod to use with the e5, I found this one the other day and it's in the mail on it's way to me.

How is the durability of these FiiO amps? Do they last a fair bit with proper care or do they give up fairly quickly?

I have the e5 and am quite happy with it. Not so great at loud volumes I find, but I really enjoy it at low volumes (most of my listening is at very low levels, and turning it down on my dap or computer sounds lousy).

i was using it with grado sr80I and ipod touch
