I am going out to either purchase the Denon AH-D1000 or the Sennheiser HD-595.

I live in london england and the Sennheiser HD-595 is relatively cheap.

I will be using the headphone with a Cowon D2 and a C&C BOX+ portable headphone amp.

Maybe someone out there can tell me what the Denon AH-D1000 or the Sennheiser HD-595 sounds like with a portable headphone amp.

Many thanks.

You have to decide. There is plenty of material already here on head-fi about all of the gear to help you make a somewhat informed decision. You should make an effort to learn to use our search engines. Also, if you have to drive a long distance to audition in person, it is worth it.

The best that my C&C Box does with my HD555 is bring out and better define the bass, a more visceral impact and realism. In general it makes my HD555 more fun to listen to and at potentially higher volumes than my PC alone can provide. I assume this too would be the case with the HD595 and your Cowon.

I'd personally prefer the D1000 over the holycowed Senn HD5*5 series. These have a somewhat "trivial" sound sig which combines the worst of a fun can with the worst of a neutral can. The D1000, on the other hand, sounds very thickish and spiffed up - the other extreme. Yes, I had both running on my Cmoy, didn't do significantly much for the 595.

Any reasons why it's between these two? Guess you could get a K271, DT250'250 or a MS1 for at about the same amount, and these all are far better fons.
